Runescape Clan
Finding the right clan can take some research, and
players should talk with clan members to see how their
clan works. Some clans are very organized, having in-game
meetings and clan events. Others are less formal, with
members preferring to simply meet up whenever several of
them are online at the same time. Likewise, some clans
have a rigid officer structure, with several members
being elected as clan leaders. These leaders are usually
in charge of planning clan events and promoting the clan.
Clan members generally add each other to their friends
list so they can quickly see when other clan members are
playing RuneScape, and many work together or chat often,
even when not participating in a clan event or quest.
Most clans ask their members to equip their characters
with a clan-identifying item or object when the clan is
working together as a whole. For example, a clan may ask
its members to equip their characters with blue cloaks
so they can be easily distinguished.
Some clans have specific requirements for new members.
Some only accept players whose characters are at or
above a specific level or are experienced in a certain
skill. These rules aren’t designed to freeze new players
out; rather, many clans began as a group of friends
playing together. This means many of the clan members’
characters are near the same level and can participate
in the same types of quests or events. However, new
players shouldn’t be discouraged—many clans take on
players of all levels or have higher level players
“adopt” new players. Joining a clan like this is an
excellent way for new gamers to learn about the ins and
outs of RuneScape.
So what does a clan do? Most anything
in RuneScape can become a clan event. Some clans
complete quests together; others will hunt dangerous
monsters together, assisting and backing each other up.
Clans often organize player-killer events where one clan
will fight another with the wining clan taking a small
number of items or money from the losing one. Others
like to organize fun events like holiday parties or
games of tag.
One of the biggest aspects of any online RPG like
RuneScape is the social aspect. Players can meet others
from all over the world, and while a single player can
build a group of associates fairly easily, a clan is a
great way for new players to meet RuneScape experts and
make many new online friends.
